The practice of Reiki comes from rediscovered ancient texts and then developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early last century.

Dr Usui was a devout Christian, and the principle of a missionary school for boys who went on a quest to search for the secret of physical healing.

The word Reiki means 'Universal Life Force Energy', but is broken down into 2 parts.

Rei

Meaning ‘Universal’ - ‘The Higher Spiritual Consciousness’.
 

Ki

Meaning ‘Life Force Energy’ - Is the vital life force that flows through all living things and is vital to the well-being of life.

Everyone has many Chakras in there body, but there are 7 main ones. they are little energy wheels that when clear and unblocked help energy flow freely through our bodies keeping us fit and healthy. From birth, everyday stresses, strains and negative thought patterns clog up our chakras, which in turn stops out bodies working as they should. This can cause all sorts of problems from migraines, stomach problems, depression and much much more.

As a therapy Reiki is an effective and simple way of tapping into this energy, and transferring it for the benefit of the receiver, to stimulate the body's own natural healing potential.

Reiki can accelerate the healing of physical problems and balance the emotions. Reiki is a gentle energy and may be used safely by all ages, including the new born, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, regardless of their state of health.

Everyone's experience of Reiki is completely different, some people feel a very hot or cool sensation radiating from the practitioners hands, some see vivid colours, it is extremely common to feel deeply relaxed during and after a Reiki treatment, and most people will actually fall asleep. Then again, some people may feel relaxed, but not see vivid colours or have other experiences, but overall, Reiki is the most amazing relaxant that can not be explained until you experience it yourself.

By receiving a session of Reiki, one physiologically attains many of the benefits equivalent to 3 to 4 hours sleep, such as increased oxygen supply to the blood cells. This clinical observation, combined with the meditative state, makes Reiki a most effective natural stress reliever.

The effects of Reiki carry on working after the session ends making you feel lighter, brighter, more energetic and more focused.

Reiki belongs to no specific religion, and can be used by everyone.
